Every morning, the doctors make their rounds and discuss the needs of each patient. At the end of the discussion, they give a recap and a statement of current condition. The first few days, Leia's condition was determined to be "extremely critical." We have seen that condition change over the days, to "critical," then to "critical but slightly improved," then to "critical but stable." Today we witnessed yet another miracle when the doctor pronounced Leia's condition as "stable and recovering."
So, we were blessed today to move her from the ICU to the Neuro Trauma Unit. We know it is a long road to whatever recovery Leia will eventually have. But we are so grateful each day to have her hand to hold.

Holding a miracle
April 2
Leia had her NG tube (the feeding tube in her nose) removed after this picture. Now she has a feeding tube in her belly. She got her staples and stitches out, and Mom was able to wash her hair again. She's looking more like Leia now. The therapists have started working with her on trying to open her eyes, sit up, and feel things. Yesterday they brought in a dog for her to pet. She has been opening her eyes a little bit, but not focusing on anything yet. We are grateful for every bit of progress we see.
